How to log in to Canvas
Canvas login always starts with your institution. There is no single global username for every school—you need your school’s Canvas URL and the credentials your school issued.
Step 1 — Find your Canvas URL
Typical patterns:
https://yourschool.instructure.comhttps://canvas.yourschool.edu- A link inside your student portal that redirects to Canvas
If you are using Canvas Network courses, the URL is usually https://learn.canvas.net. Free Canvas Lite teacher accounts use https://canvas.instructure.com.
Step 2 — Open a supported browser
Use the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. Clear site data only if an old school session is stuck.
Step 3 — Enter school credentials
- Go to your institution Canvas URL.
- Enter the email, username, NetID, or student ID your school requires.
- Enter your password, then complete SSO / MFA if prompted.
- Select Log In. Your Dashboard should load with course cards.
Forgot password?
Use Forgot Password on the Canvas login screen when your school allows local resets. Many campuses use SSO—reset the password in the campus identity system instead of Canvas.
Mobile login shortcut
Already logged in on a computer? Open Account → QR for Mobile Login, then scan with the Canvas Student, Teacher, or Parent app. QR codes expire in about 10 minutes.
