The Canvas Parent app (part of Canvas by Instructure) lets observers—usually parents or guardians—follow student progress when the school turns on observer enrollments.
Before you download
- Confirm your school uses Canvas and allows Parent/Observer pairing.
- Ask the student or school for the pairing code if required.
- Install Canvas Parent from the App Store or Google Play (not the Student app).
What parents can usually see
- Assignment due dates and late work
- Grades as the teacher publishes them
- Course announcements (when enabled)
Observers typically cannot submit work or message the whole class. For login help on school accounts, share the login guide with your student.
